A Humber student has joined a clothing line called HyGrade Clothing which is aimed at college students.

Three months ago Paul Iarusci joined HyGrade Clothing Co. as a vice president and sales associate.

Paul Iarusci, 22, a hospitality student who is taking a break from school but coming back next year, said the name of the line “can have so many different angles.

For example, living a high-grade lifestyle, or high-grade quality.”

Matt Karin, founder and president of HyGrade, said he and and co-founder Jeff Hare were the first two to come together and say “let’s do this,” and then Iarusci joined them.

Karin said the line for men and women features sweaters, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and tank tops. They have original designs and logos.

“We like making people laugh with our shirts. People see the skunk design and they laugh,” said Karin.

“A lot of our clothes have a double-meaning, which just means depending on who you are, the designs will be interpreted differently,” Karin said, “We love making clothes that we would wear. Everything we make, we wear.”

Michael Karin, brother of Matt, designs all of the clothes.

The clothes range from $20 – 50, depending on the item and design.

The new brand made an appearance on a Hello Beautiful music video, as the band wore their clothes.

Jason Meyers, a Toronto based designer, who is currently re-branding from high-end “red carpet” wear to high-end street wear, said passion will get you through the fashion industry.

“If you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. And if you’re passionate about it, don’t ever stop or give up,” said Meyers.
