Vice-presidential candidates for Lakeshore Campus have many ideas about how to improve student life, from a wilder frosh week to program networking. But one of the most important things they stress to students is to voice concerns and vote.

“Don’t complain about it, vote. Vote and let your voice be heard,” said Alicia Johnson, 23, a second-year business administration student.

Johnson, a candidate for vice-president administration, said she wants “to make sure students are more aware of the services available to them.”

Bryan Tran, 23, a first-year business administration co-op student, is running for vice-president administration for the experience and because he likes to help people.

One of the ways he plans to help students is to “improve cafe services at Lakeshore Campus.”

First-year business administration student, Elias Nabutete, 28, another candidate for vice-president administration, wants to be a positive influence and create “a stronger HSF in terms of being more visible to the student body and having greater interaction,” through program based clubs.

Program-oriented events are also important to Jeff Wood, 23, a first-year public relations student running for vice-president of campus life.

Wood said he would use surveys to target programs and find out the specific needs of students.

The main priority Wood wants to accomplish is “to find a way to get more people involved and getting more people to come out to events,” regardless of what program they are in.

For second-year business administration diploma student Shugufa Kaker, 20, it is all about the parties at Humber.

“I want to make sure the students at Humber have a great time next year.  This means more licensed events at Lakeshore, more big name artists and a bigger, crazier frosh week,” said the vice-president campus life candidate.

Voting for the elections begins March 3.
